KC8 (17.6 mg, 0.13 mmol) was added to a suspension of 3-U2Ni2Cl2 (100.0 mg, 0.06 mmol) in 3 mL of THF. The mixture was stirred overnight. Then, volatiles were removed in vacuo and the crude product was extracted with toluene. The filtrate was stored at –30 °C and yielded 4-U2Ni2 as black block-like crystals. Yield: 35 mg, 35%. Anal. Calcd (%) for C55H116N8Ni2P6U2: C, 39.58; H, 7.01; N, 6.71. Found: C, 38.76; H, 6.65; N, 6.74.
