From: Regime shifts in rocky intertidal communities associated with a marine heatwave and disease outbreak

  1. Community structure was measured in periods before (2006-2014), during (2015-2016) and after (2017-2020) sea star wasting disease and the marine heatwave (n = 3,703 surveys). Within each treatment and cape, the mean pre-disturbance (before-to-before) value per plot was compared to either its mean resistance (before-to-during) value or its mean resilience (before-to-after) value (n = 260 plots). The Benjamini-Hochberg procedure was used to correct for multiple comparisons, resulting in a critical value of P < (i/16) × 0.05, where i is the rank of the P value ordered from lowest to highest. Significant P values are shown in bold.
