Notably, genera dating from the Changhsingian and characterized by stronger shell ornamentations exhibited higher levels of interspecific variation, as exemplified by Paratirolites and Alibashites. Conversely, genera from the Induan fauna displayed fewer variations, as observed in Ambites and Mullericeras.
