Watering treatment generally decreased CTI (°C) and increased CPI (mm). Ambient plots (n = 72) and watering plots (n = 64) are shown in black and blue, respectively. Effects across all years were estimated by linear mixed-effects models (two-sided t-test; ns: p > 0.05, * p ≤ 0.05, ** p ≤ 0.01, *** p ≤ 0.001). Box plots show the median (center), the first and third quartiles (bounds of the box), the range extending to the smallest and largest values within 1.5 times the interquartile range from the first and third quartiles (whiskers), and outliers beyond this range (points).
