Changes in faculty percentages are from 2016 to 2022 in IPEDS and 2016 to 2023 in the L&K dataset (IPEDS data from 2023 are not yet available). IPEDS data are restricted to the L&K university sample. STEM fields are defined as biology, chemistry and economics; non-STEM fields are defined as English, educational leadership and policy, and sociology. A is for all faculty, B is for assistant professors, C is for associate professors, and D is for full professors. The vertical scale is in percentage points and differs as necessary to show changes for the different groups at appropriate scale. * indicates the difference between STEM and non-STEM fields is statistically significant at the 10 percent level.
