These are papers that refer to a patient’s SES or discuss a patients reluctancy to undergo a certain procedure/screening due to the expenses.

Language

These are papers that talk about the disconnect between the physician-patient interaction, due to a lack of translation services

Stigma related to Pt. identity

These papers refer to a patient either currently receiving inadequate or have mistrust towards the healthcare system due to societal and historical factor related to the pt. identity (i.e., gender, immigration status, prior incarceration, etc.)

Systemic information gap

These papers discuss barriers that involve a failure of the healthcare system to properly educate its patients. Due to this failure, patients describe not knowing about the benefits of certain procedures or are misinformed about current practices

Lack of hospital resources

These are papers that mention the lack of internal hospital resources, or issues such as staffing, that prevent a patient from getting proper care
