De novo mutational signature analysis was performed using non-negative matrix factorization (NMF), in which the factorization rank is critical to define the number of signatures used to decompose the target matrix of sSNVs. We identified that four signatures can maximize the cophenetic and best fit the observed sSNV matrix.
