Eliminating lead-exposure in nebulization therapy by lead-free piezoelectric

The present main-stream medical ultrasonic nebulizers contain a usually overlooked health risk of lead exposure as their key components are made of lead-containing piezoceramics. Here the authors introduce a lead-free medical ultrasonic nebulizer, which eliminates lead exposure risk in nebulization therapy and offers a healthy solution for patients.

Macrophage STING signaling promotes fibrosis in benign airway stenosis via an IL6-STAT3 pathway

Benign airway stenosis (BAS) is characterised by acute and chronic inflammation of the trachea. Here the authors examine the function of cGAS-STING in BAS using mouse models and show involvement of macrophages and that inhibition of STING or macrophage depletion ameliorated BAS.

Rhbdd3 controls autoimmunity by suppressing the production of IL-6 by dendritic cells via K27-linked ubiquitination of the regulator NEMO

NF-κB activity is regulated by multiple ubiquitin-dependent regulatory steps. Cao and colleagues show that the rhomboid protein Rhbdd3 recognizes K27-linked ubiquitin and prevents IL-6-mediated autoimmunity by recruiting the deubiquitinase A20 to NEMO (IKKγ) kinase complexes.

LRRFIP2 negatively regulates NLRP3 inflammasome activation in macrophages by promoting Flightless-I-mediated caspase-1 inhibition

Inflammasomes promote the maturation of inflammatory cytokines in response to signals associated with damage and infection, but it remains unclear how these signals are attenuated. Here, the authors show that the NLRP3 inflammasome is inhibited by LRRFIP2 through recruitment of the protein Flightless I.

Integrin CD11b negatively regulates TLR-triggered inflammatory responses by activating Syk and promoting degradation of MyD88 and TRIF via Cbl-b

Integrins regulate the migration of leukocytes in inflammation. Cao and co-workers now show that CD11b is activated by Toll-like receptor–triggered inside-out signaling and feeds back to inhibit phosphorylation of the adaptors MyD88 and TRIF.
