A study from Zhang, Chen, Feng and colleagues investigates the multifaceted role of GLP-1R agonists in different brain cell types. They show that GLP-1R agonists can reduce amyloidosis and mitigate Alzheimer’s disease symptoms in mice by activating AMPK signaling, regulating neuronal amyloid-β metabolism and promoting microglial phagocytosis.
