Scabies is a common cause of skin disease in many low- and middle-income countries and incidence is increasing in Europe, but key epidemiological parameters are not well defined. Here, the authors use data from outbreaks in four countries and surveillance data from the Netherlands to characterise scabies transmission dynamics.
