Reaction-induced modification of Co nanoclusters driven by Co-Mn interfacial sites to control selectivity in CO₂ hydrogenation

Tuning selectivity on metal nano catalysts is challenging. In CO₂ hydrogenation, carbon reshapes cobalt on manganese oxide, shifting products from methane to CO and lifting the CO-to-methane ratio 15-fold.

Boosting the activity in the liquid-phase hydrogenation of S-containing nitroarenes by dual-site Pt/CeO₂ catalysts design

Liquid-phase hydrogenation of nitroarenes is a key industrial process, but conventional supported metal nanoparticles often suffer deactivation in the presence of sulfur-containing groups. Here, the authors design a dual-site Pt/CeO₂ catalyst that enables selective hydrogenation of S-nitroarenes by separating catalytic roles.

Generation of oxide surface patches promoting H-spillover in Ru/(TiO_x)MnO catalysts enables CO₂ reduction to CO

Controlling strong metal–support interactions to promote catalytic performance is a desirable yet challenging endeavour. Now, the in situ formation of TiO_x patches on an MnO support, instead of encapsulated metal, facilitates hydrogen spillover and promotes the reverse water-gas shift reaction performance.

Operando spectroscopy study of the carbon dioxide electro-reduction by iron species on nitrogen-doped carbon

Trapping carbon dioxide within usable chemicals is a promising means to mitigate climate change, yet electrochemical C–C couplings are challenging to perform. Here, the authors prepared iron oxyhydroxides on nitrogen-doped carbon that efficiently convert carbon dioxide to acetic acid.
