Cardiac repair using regenerating neonatal heart tissue-derived extracellular vesicles

Unlike neonatal mammalian hearts, adult hearts have limited regenerative capacity. Here, the authors explore the use of extracellular vesicles collected from neonatal hearts flowing damage, explore the difference in protein expression and delivery potential to trigger myocardial repair.

Lipid synthesis, triggered by PPARγ T166 dephosphorylation, sustains reparative function of macrophages during tissue repair

Macrophages with a reparative phenotype are important for tissue repair and have distinctive metabolic features. Here authors show that metabolic rewiring of macrophages during wound healing involves dephosphorylation of the transcription factor PPARγ, which results in activation of target genes that regulate lipid biosynthesis.

A transposon insertion in the promoter of OsUBC12 enhances cold tolerance during japonica rice germination

Japonica rice generally has greater capacity for low temperatures germination (LTG) than indica rice. Here, the authors report an E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme-encoding gene OsUBC12 can increase LTG in japonica rice by negatively regulate ABA signaling via promoting the proteasomal degradation of OsSnRK1.1.

Crystal structures of APOBEC3G N-domain alone and its complex with DNA

The N-terminal domain of APOBEC3G (A3G) is required for anti-HIV activity, HIV-1 viral infectivity factor (Vif) binds to this domain of A3G to mediate its degradation. Here, the authors use their crystal structures of this A3G domain alone and bound to single-stranded DNA to investigate the molecular details of this interaction.
