Circadian fluctuation of soluble CD26 dictates the impact of the timing of cord blood transplantation on acute graft-versus-host disease

It was shown that early-day stem cell infusions reduced the severity of acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD). Our result suggested early morning cord blood transplantation reduces aGVHD severity and correlated with circadian sCD26 fluctuations.

TRPV1 SUMOylation regulates nociceptive signaling in models of inflammatory pain

SUMOylation is a post translational modification. Here the authors show that TRPV1, which conveys thermal nociception, is SUMOylated in DRGs in inflammatory conditions and contributes to pain behavior in mice.

Inflammatory monocytes promote pre-engraftment syndrome and tocilizumab can therapeutically limit pathology in patients

Pre-engraftment syndrome is a major consideration during clinical application of unrelated cord blood transfusion and monocytes represent a critical cell type in immune-pathogenesis. Here the authors further establish the role of monocytes and GM-CSF in pre-engraftment syndrome and show clinical administration of tocilizumab limits pathology in pre-engraftment syndrome pathology in patients.

Apoptosis of cancer cells is triggered by selective crosslinking and inhibition of receptor tyrosine kinases

Kaidi Wang et al. show that the inhibition of receptor tyrosine kinases by concanavalin A suppresses pro-survival pathways, triggering apoptosis. This study suggests that selective crosslinking of receptor tyrosine kinases with concanavalin A -like molecules may be exploited as an anti-cancer strategy.
