Synthetic antiferromagnets, where two ferromagnetic layers are antiferromagnetically coupled offer a variety of advantages for spintronic applications. Here, Ma, Liu, and coauthors demonstrate optical control of both the RKKY interaction and the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy in a synthetic antiferromagnet.
