Traditional bisphenol A diglycidyl ether (BADGE) synthesis from bisphenol A and epichlorohydrin using NaOH suffers from side reactions, low purity product and high viscosity. Here, the authors report an organocatalytic NaOH-free route, yielding higher purity BADGE and improved epoxy resins.
