K48-linked KLF4 ubiquitination by E3 ligase Mule controls T-cell proliferation and cell cycle progression

The E3 ligase Mule has been previously reported to be essential for B cell development and function by modulating p53 ubiquitination and degradation. Here Haoet al. identify KLF4 as a novel ubiquitination target of Mule and show it controls T cell proliferation and autoimmunity.

Growth of bilayer MoTe₂ single crystals with strong non-linear Hall effect

2D transition metal ditellurides exhibit nontrivial topological phases, but the controlled bottom-up synthesis of these materials is still challenging. Here, the authors report the layer-by-layer growth of large-area bilayer and trilayer 1T’ MoTe2 films, showing thickness-dependent ferroelectricity and nonlinear Hall effect.

Switchable planar chirality and spin texture in highly ordered ferroelectric hybrid perovskite domains

The authors find that highly ordered ferroelectric hybrid perovskite domains exhibit planar chirality that switches sign between adjacent domains, which manifest in a large dichroic ratio for circularly polarized second harmonic generation from the domain walls.

The autoimmune disease–associated PTPN22 variant promotes calpain-mediated Lyp/Pep degradation associated with lymphocyte and dendritic cell hyperresponsiveness

Katherine Siminovitch and colleagues show that mice expressing the autoimmune disease–associated Ptpn22 coding variant show thymic and splenic enlargement and lymphocyte and dendritic cell hyperresponsiveness. They further show that the variant promotes degradation of the protein, suggesting that it enhances autoimmune disease risk through a loss-of-function mechanism.
