Summary

The oil is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids, particularly oleic acid, conferring oxidative stability to the resulting biodiesel. Production generally employs base-catalysed transesterification of crude oil with methanol to yield fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) and glycerol. Process optimisation studies have refined reaction conditions, catalyst concentrations and feedstock pre-treatment to enhance conversion efficiency and fuel properties in compliance with international standards.
