Visual censuses and stomach analyses demonstrated that a common cave-dwelling species forages nocturnally outside caves, transporting organic matter into the cavern interior. This behaviour underscores the importance of mobile fauna as trophic vectors and suggests that preserving faunal connectivity is vital for sustaining cave ecosystem productivity.
