Cancer Prevention Strategies and Lifestyle Interventions

Summary

The global incidence of cancer continues to rise, placing an increasing burden on health systems worldwide. Evidence indicates that at least one third of malignancies are attributable to modifiable factors, creating a compelling opportunity for primary prevention through lifestyle interventions. Strategic recommendations encompass balanced diets rich in whole grains, fruits and vegetables; maintenance of healthy body weight; regular physical activity; limited consumption of alcohol and avoidance of tobacco; plus emerging roles for chemopreventive agents and microbiome modulation. Nutrition, exercise and behavioural support programmes have been shown to reduce tumour incidence and improve overall health in diverse populations. Integration of standardised adherence scores, digital monitoring and community-based initiatives enhances the implementation of preventive strategies. Continued interdisciplinary research seeks to refine personalised prevention across populations and optimise policy frameworks to achieve substantial reductions in cancer morbidity and mortality.
