These alterations threaten the distinctiveness of long-established wine regions and call for integrated adaptation strategies. Responses span modified vineyard practices—such as canopy management, adjusted pruning dates and targeted irrigation—to strategic shifts in grape material, including the use of heat resistant clones and novel varieties. A systems approach that combines biophysical modelling with socioeconomic considerations is essential to safeguard yields, preserve regional typicity and support sustainable wine production under a rapidly evolving climate.
