A foundational study in Taiwan evaluated the Mini-Mental State Examination and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment in 168 patients with Parkinson’s disease, developing a conversion formula and a predictive model for mild cognitive impairment. By integrating delayed recall performance and visuospatial indices, the model achieved an area under the curve exceeding 0.98, indicating exceptional discrimination. This work underscores the value of combining standard cognitive screens with statistical modelling to improve early detection of cognitive decline in diverse clinical populations.
