Studies over the last two years have investigated how information technology governance interfaces with traditional board structures to support resilience. One key work analysed an emerging economy during the Covid-19 pandemic and demonstrated that board size, independence, audit committee diligence and external audit quality have a significant positive effect on the maturity of IT governance frameworks. Crucially, IT governance was found to moderate how these board characteristics translate into effective business continuity management, underscoring the importance of technological oversight in crisis preparedness. The findings highlight that integrating digital governance alongside conventional oversight bodies strengthens organisational capacity to maintain operations and deliver reliable disclosures under stress.
