Summary

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterised by recurrent unprovoked seizures that can impair consciousness, motor control and cognitive function. For individuals with epilepsy, the possibility of a seizure while driving poses a serious risk to personal and public safety. Regulatory frameworks around the world balance the rights of people with epilepsy to maintain mobility and independence against the imperative of minimising crash risk.
