Online Learning Experiences during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Online learning underwent an unprecedented global experiment during the COVID-19 pandemic, as institutions at all levels pivoted to virtual modes of instruction. Recent studies have examined the preparedness and adaptability of educational stakeholders during the pandemic. A cross-sectional analysis assessed perceptions of functional resilience among high-school students, parents, teachers and school leaders using a composite scale that encompassed communication, psychosocial well-being, digital literacy, pedagogic support, resources and infrastructure across remote and face-to-face learning. Findings reveal marked differences between groups, with students reporting the lowest resilience scores and teachers the highest. Key predictors of perceived resilience included digital literacy, clarity of communication and the availability of pedagogic support. The study recommends targeted professional development and investment in digital and physical infrastructure to bolster system-wide readiness for future crises.
