Recent studies have employed latent class analysis of large international hip fracture cohorts to identify distinct clinical phenotypes based on cardiovascular and metabolic comorbidities. Three clusters—one dominated by cerebrovascular disease and hypertension, one characterised by heart failure, and one relatively free of major illness—were shown to predict divergent trajectories for post-fracture mortality, cardiovascular events and health-service utilisation. These findings underscore the value of stratified patient assessment to inform individualised post-fracture management and secondary prevention.
