Analyses revealed an L-shaped association between total duration of physical activity and risk of all-cause and cancer mortality, indicating that even modest increases from very low baseline activity yield substantial benefit. A linear reduction in cardiovascular mortality was observed with greater activity. Crucially, light-intensity movement accounted for nearly one fifth of preventable deaths, while moderate and vigorous activity together accounted for almost 60%. These findings underscore the need for clinical guidelines to promote both longer duration and higher intensity of activity in people living with diabetes.
