Quality Improvement in Epilepsy Care

Quality improvement in epilepsy care encompasses systematic efforts to enhance diagnosis, treatment and long-term management of people living with epilepsy. Central to these efforts is the development and application of standardised quality indicators that track adherence to evidence-based recommendations, from seizure evaluation and antiseizure medication review to psychosocial support. Digital tools such as telehealth platforms and electronic dashboards facilitate real-time monitoring of performance metrics, while patient-reported outcomes inform iterative refinements to service delivery. At a policy level, international frameworks encourage the alignment of national plans with global action programmes to raise awareness, foster intersectoral governance and embed epilepsy care into broader health agendas.
