In a major biodiversity hotspot, projections of climatically suitable areas for Atlantic Forest snakes predict drastic range contractions under warming scenarios, with oviparous species particularly vulnerable. Existing protected areas were shown to offer limited refugia, prompting calls for the redesign of reserve networks to maximise species persistence under future climates.
