Summary

Chrysidid wasps, commonly known as cuckoo wasps, comprise a diverse family within Hymenoptera characterised by metallic colouring and a cleptoparasitic lifestyle. Taxonomic efforts over the past two centuries have delineated five subfamilies and over 3 000 named species, yet the delineation of genera and species boundaries remains challenging due to convergent morphology and remarkable intraspecific variation.
