Triterpenoid: A class of organic compounds built from six isoprene units (C30) that form diverse cyclic structures through enzymatic cyclisation of squalene.

Glycoside: A molecule in which a sugar moiety is bound to a non‐sugar compound (aglycone), often enhancing solubility and modulating bioactivity.

Saponin: A subgroup of glycosides comprising a triterpenoid or steroid aglycone linked to one or more sugar chains, notable for their surface‐active properties and membrane‐modulating effects.

Ethnopharmacology: The interdisciplinary study of how traditional cultures use plants, fungi or other organisms to prevent and treat disease, integrating anthropological and pharmacological perspectives.

Pentacyclic: Describing a compound with five fused carbon rings, a common feature in many biologically active triterpenoid scaffolds.
