Foam cells play a key role in plaque destabilization in atherosclerosis, but their monitoring and regulation remain challenging. Here, the authors present a nanoagent that integrates multimodal imaging for plaque imaging and targeting. The platform allows for controlled drug release, promoting lipid efflux, reducing inflammatory signalling, and enhancing plaque stabilization in animal models.
