Mindfulness-Based Interventions (MBIs) have emerged as evidence-based, non-pharmacological approaches to alleviate sleep disturbances across diverse populations. Grounded in contemplative traditions, MBIs cultivate present-centred awareness and non-judgemental attention to thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations. Core practices—such as guided meditation, body-scan exercises and mindful movement—aim to reduce cognitive and physiological arousal that perpetuates insomnia. Robust data demonstrate that regular engagement in MBIs can shorten sleep onset latency, decrease nocturnal awakenings and enhance subjective sleep quality. Established programmes, including Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Mindfulness-Based Therapy for Insomnia, have been tailored for older adults, shift workers and individuals with comorbid psychiatric conditions. The advent of online and app-based delivery has broadened reach, improved adherence and facilitated integration into daily routines.
