Pediatric Asthma Management Approaches

An observational analysis of paediatric intensive care admissions in England provided new insights into the epidemiology and resource demands of severe asthma. Over a seven-year period, children from the most deprived neighbourhoods accounted for the majority of intensive care admissions, invasive ventilation episodes and deaths. Younger children were more likely to require mechanical support, whereas mortality clustered among older paediatric patients. The study highlighted a clear socioeconomic gradient in both incidence and severity, underscoring the need for enhanced community-based support and early intervention programmes to prevent critical illness in vulnerable populations.
