Alahmari et al. combine orthotopic liver transplantation with haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplant in patients with severe SCD and advanced liver disease. They demonstrate the feasibility of this dual approach, with stable engraftment and immune tolerance achieved through a nonmyeloablative conditioning regimen.
