Land transfer policies in China have been empirically shown to catalyse sustainable agricultural development through an entropy-weighted assessment of panel data across 30 regions, demonstrating that formalised leasing arrangements significantly improve eco-efficiency and resource use under difference-in-difference analysis. Spatially explicit studies employing exploratory spatial data analysis and GeoDetector techniques reveal that farmland transfer dynamics from 2015 to 2020 vary sharply by provincial land endowment, credit-supported family farms and demographic factors, with leasing modes—such as family farms, cooperatives and enterprises—determining the scale and pace of consolidation. In areas with limited extension capacity, artificial intelligence–based chatbots were evaluated as farm advisory tools: when benchmarked against human agents on irrigated rice queries, AI assistants delivered higher-quality, locally relevant recommendations, suggesting a scalable supplement to traditional services where agent numbers are constrained.
