Collateral hypersensitivity between ZY19489 and piperaquine neutralizes PfCRT-mediated drug efflux and Plasmodium falciparum resistance

ZY19489 is a potent antimalarial candidate, which shows a low resistance liability, mediated by a fitness-compromising mutation in PfCRT that restores Plasmodium falciparum susceptibility to the licensed drug piperaquine by blocking its efflux.
