L-RNA aptamer-based CXCL12 inhibition combined with radiotherapy in newly-diagnosed glioblastoma: dose escalation of the phase I/II GLORIA trial

Recent studies show that targeting CXCL12 can improve the effect of radiotherapy (RT) in preclinical models of glioblastoma (GBM). Here, the authors report the safety and preliminary efficacy of a phase I/II clinical trial investigating an L-RNA aptamer-based CXCL12 inhibitor (NOX-A12) in combination with RT in patients with newly-diagnosed GBM.

Polyamides (PAs) or nylons are types of plastics with wide applications, but due to their accumulation in the environment, strategies for their deconstruction are of interest. Here, the authors screen 40 potential nylon-hydrolyzing enzymes (nylonases) using a mass spectrometry-based approach and identify a thermostabilized N-terminal nucleophile hydrolase as the most promising for further development, as well as crucial targets for progressing PA6 enzymatic depolymerization.

The path to safe, equitable and sustainable dialysis provision for people with chronic kidney disease

An abrupt policy change in 2022 — allowing patients to choose between peritoneal dialysis or hemodialysis — created severe unintended consequences for the Thai health system.
