Clinically, graft-donor sites treated with OPMF exhibited significantly lower postoperative pain, fewer analgesic requirements and accelerated wound healing, with greater bone density at 90 days versus controls.

Investigations into platelet-derived growth factor-BB (PDGF-BB) in a tooth-replantation model demonstrated that topical PDGF-BB pretreatment markedly reduced ankylosis and restored organised periodontal ligament architecture. Treated specimens showed enhanced fibroblast proliferation, migration and mechanical strength, with modulation of Wnt/β-catenin signalling to prevent pathological bone fusion, underscoring PDGF-BB’s dual role in soft-tissue repair and inhibition of aberrant mineralisation.

Seminal work has validated three-dimensional intraoral scanning for measurement of keratinised gingiva. Digital scans yielded sub-0.1-mm deviation from histologic dimensions and outperformed periodontal probing by over 1 mm in accuracy.
